Stir up the gift! (413 hits)

Hi Women of God!

In 2 Timothy 1:6-7, Paul reminded Timothy to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. He said God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Do you hear that? You are to stir up your own gift that God has given you. Before you can stir it up, you need to know what it is. Make sure you are stirring up the gift that God gave you. Take inventory of your spirit and ask God what are my gifts? What have you equipped me to do? He will answer you!

Once you recognize that gift, and then stir it up! How do you stir it up? You stir it up by staying in the word of God and spending time with Him. He will start to give you directions on things to do. Think about the things He has given you in the last few years that you did not plan to do. I never thought about writing a book, but God said write a book! I never thought I would leave my job and start a new career but God said leave that job, take a break, now take that job! He was ordering my steps. While He was ordering my steps, He started to reveal the gifts He had put in me. Yes, I had natural gifts, things that I learned in school or through life's experiences, but He revealed to me His gifts that He put in me!

So I started to stir up those gifts: writing, speaking, training, organizing, etc. Those were gifts that I ignored for so long because I was chasing my gifts! I was wasting time stirring up the wrong gifts! Have you done that? Don't waste time stirring up the wrong gifts because God will bring you back full circle to do what He called you to do in the first place. I'm doing now what I started doing 10 years go! It took 10 years for it to click because I was sowing time and seeds into the gifts that I wanted to cultivate. It doesn't mean that I wasn't prosperous or excelling, but eventually you run out of gas. You start to loose the desire for that thing that you poured yourself into. Then you come full circle with God and say okay God, what is that You want me to do? He'll show you! He'll do it by closing doors and opening new doors. He'll show you by strategically aligning you with the right people that will help you walk into your destiny! You’re start to excel even more in the gifts He gave you and things He told you to do! You have to hear Him or you'll continue to stir up the wrong gifts!

He also said in verse 7, that He has not given you the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and a sound mind.

Not only did He give you the gift. Not only did He tell you to stir up that gift! He gave you the power and authority to walk out that gift! Guess what? You're not crazy! People may think that you are and say that are, but guess what you aren't! God gave you love to walk out the gift and a SOUND MIND! A sound mind is mind that is not confused. You've recognized the gifts, you're stirring up, and you’re walking in power. Don’t apologize for the gifts, exercise the gifts God gave you. You're walking in love and your mind is sound because you are connected to God!

He said stir it up so when someone tries to put out your fire, rain on your parade, damper your mood, tell them, back off, because I'm stirring up my gift. The more I stir it up, the more seasoned I will be. You know what happens when you have good pot of soup. You have okras, your tomatoes, your corn, your onions, and all that other good stuff and if eaten by itself, some of it doesn't taste so good, but together (your good gifts, your rough edges), will all come together and God will use it for your good. So stir it up! Get it seasoned, let cook on low, and it will eventually come to a boil and after a while, that soup is good and pleasant. Let God start you off slow and bring all those seasonings together and you will be good and pleasant for the body of Christ. Your love and gifts will draw people to Christ! You are so powerful in God!

Let's bless each other with the word of God! Let's stir up the gifts that God has given us. Talk to me!
